Saturday 27 September is the day again: Neighbourhood Day! And in Dutch: Burendag. And just for your information, Buren = neighbors in Dutch. This day is a great opportunity to make your neighbourhood in the Netherlands a little more fun, sociable and connected. Whether you are organising a street party, setting up a treasure hunt for the kids, or planting flowers in the community garden—everything counts. Because let's be honest: a good neighbour is better than a distant friend.

What is Neighborhood Day?

Neighborhood Day is an annual event where neighbours come together to do something positive for the community. From small gatherings to large neighbourhood projects—it's all about connection. When neighbours know and help each other, a greater sense of togetherness develops. And that makes everyone happier!

We’d like to make it easy for you. Follow these three steps for a successful day:

Step 1: Choose your activity and sign up
